Cujo by Stephen King
The story starts in a fictitious area in Maine called Castle Rock, based off two families. The two families are the Cambers and Trentons, where the Trentons have recently moved from New York to Castle Rock. With the Trentons are the parents, Vic and Donna and a four-year-old son named Tad. Later in the story we learn that Vic, whom works for an abjected advertising agency, and is coerced to leave town, leaving Donna and Tad in Castle Rock.
On the other side are the Cambers, Joe is a mechanic who is very abusive over ten-year-old son Brett and wife Charity. Whilst playing a lottery ticket, Charity founds herself winning a $5,000 prize. After convincing Joe, Charity takes Brett on a trip to visit Holly, Charity's sister. We then meet Cujo, the Camber's 200-hundred pound St. Bernard. Cujo, being an average dog, chases a rabbit throughout the perimeter of their house and sticks his head into a small cave in which allows him to be bit on the nose by an infected bat, giving him ailments such as rabies; make a permanent alteration on his obedient figure. This now utterly ascendant dog, takes charge and later kills the Camber's neighbor Gary Pervier. When Joe Camber later attempts to reach Gary, he visits his home, making himself vulnerable, therefore getting killed by Cujo as well.
Bringing along Tad, Donna takes her car to the Camber's hoping to get repairs. On the way the car breaks down near the Camber's front door. When Donna searches for Joe, Cujo finds Donna, coercing her to return back to the car. Now trapped in the car, Cujo is awaiting the time to beset his new found prey. Stuck in the vehicle on a Summer day, incrementally getting hotter, Donna is willing to make an audacious decision; and run for it. Albeit, it's quite hard to outrun a dog, therefore Donna returns to the car after being bitten in the stomach and leg, throughout her failed attempt.
Vic, now returned from his trip, learns that a man named Steve Kemp, whom allegedly had an affair with Donna, was suspected of robbing and kidnapping Donna and Tad. The police then sends Sheriff George Bannerman, whom then is also killed by Cujo. Donna, after witnessing thus, takes a chance after noticing that Tad, has a risk of dehydrating. She then bustles with a weapon in killing Cujo.
